Program Support Assistant

This position is located in Medicine Service Line at LA Crosse, WI COBC. The Tomah VAMC is a complexity level 3 facility. The primary purpose of the positions to serve as a Non-VA care Coordinator. It is a foundational role within the continuum of patient care, working collaboratively with the patient care teams as well as a variety of specialty health care providers. This include registered nurse care managers, primary care and/or specialty care providers, pharmacists, social workers, dieticians, behavioral health specialist, etc. to provide a robust interdisciplinary approach to care. Important interfaces and collaborations also occur with larger health care system providers including VA and non VA specialists, hospitals, diagnostics and treating facilities, and community based programs. DUTIES:
-Coordinates Community Care for Veterans; -Generates authorizations for pre-authorized community care. -Reviews and determines eligibility for the various Community Care programs and explains to Veterans. -Coordinates all administrative information between professional staff and the Veteran. -Generates correspondence to various providers and veterans. -Completes Community Care consult and assures the corresponding report is linked to the appropriate consult and patient medical record. -Makes and notifies patients of scheduled appointments with outside providers. -Generates authorizations for pre-authorized medical care. Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. GS-6 Grade Requirements:
Must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower level (GS-05) in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position. Examples of specialized experience are:
Ability to analyze data and extract data from various sources as this applies to clerical and administrative functions of the service. Skilled in the use of various office equipment and special knowledge in the use of PC and its programs such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, VISTA, and CPRS. Knowledge of VA Timekeeping regulations and supply policies and procedures. Knowledge of proper English grammar, spelling, punctuation and required VA formats for correspondence, reports and other office documents. Ability to appropriately and courteously relate to internal and external customers You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
