Company is looking for a full time SQL Database Administrator.
This individual will work independently and on a team to administer the Microsoft SQL database environment and to assist with the support of the Company's compute, storage, and virtual environments. This includes the following: develop and maintain Database System strategies; create, maintain, and communicate guidelines to achieve strategic milestones; create service level expectations (SLA/SLO); design and implement new databases for applications; develop and maintain business continuity and disaster recovery strategy for SQL database systems; provide project management, planning, and support augmenting the efforts of the Network Services Project Manager; develop and maintain database system documentation; participate in event, incident, and problem management as it relates to database issues; report on the condition of the environment and recommend changes to the System Administration Team Lead; monitor and maintain database systems to ensure optimal performance.
Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to: install, maintain, and enhance all systems managed by Network Services; plan, coordinate, and execute upgrades, migrations, conversions, and implementations; participate in system patching and updates. The selected person will periodically rotate on-call responsibilities, as well as provide service outside of normal business hours as necessary.
Qualifications: Associate's degree in Information Systems/Network Systems Administration or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Experience should relate mostly to Microsoft SQL Server, with additional focus on the setup, maintenance, and management of servers, storage, and security systems. Candidates should have proven knowledge/experience with the following: Microsoft SQL Server (2005, 2008, 2008R2, 2012), Microsoft Windows client and server operating systems, VMware enterprise virtualization products, Microsoft Active Directory. NetApp SnapManager for SQL experience is a plus.
Additional qualifications include: ability to communicate effectively; demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong analytical skills; ability to diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues; ability to multi-task and perform at a high level in a fast-paced environment; ability to work well independently as well as on a team; ability to meet department deadlines.
