POSITION DESCRIPTION The La Crosse Promise Executive Director, with staff, is accountable for the development, implementation and refinement of efforts to promote, fundraise for and grow organization operations.
This person represents La Crosse Promise in the community.
The Executive Director works in partnership with the Board of Directors to ensure that La Crosse Promise meets requirements, plans responsibly, nurtures and strengthens relationships, and works toward achieving the La Crosse Promise mission.
Ideal candidates will have a background in educational leadership, non-profit development and promotion, program management or related fields.
POSITION SPECIFICS Primary Responsibilities - Staff Be a motivational leader who seeks and fosters healthy relationships for staff in all areas, including professional development, team building, and program creation and refinement.
Ensure staff are seeking and meeting measures of accountability and feeling fulfilled in their roles and functions.
Develop an operational framework and process for work transparency to ensure appropriate planning, execution, monitoring and refinement of work.
Prioritize tasks, actions and programs based on the La Crosse Promise strategic plan and mission to ensure aligned processes and outcomes.
Primary Responsibilities - Community Lead fundraising activities for La Crosse Promise in all forms.
With the Board of Directors and staff, identify, build and maintain personal relationships with current and prospective individual donors and corporate sponsors, local and regional philanthropic foundations and community partners.
Be a confident, articulate and persuasive advocate for La Crosse Promise to increase visibility with current and prospective donors, private and public organizations, local government staff and elected officials, local media, and key community representatives.
Network actively with local and regional public and private partners to support the issues affecting neighborhood revitalization and access to post-secondary education.
Research, write, apply for and administer grants to advance the La Crosse Promise mission.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES Board of Directors Work collaboratively with the Board of Directors to set strategic goals, establish policy and open lines of communication, and enhance human and financial resources to assure the continued growth and success of the organization.
Assist the Board of Directors in its ongoing recruitment and retention of members with the skills and knowledge that are useful to La Crosse Promise's organizational development.
Assist the Board of Directors in short- and long-term planning and works with Board members to carry out plans, review them, and modify them as necessary.
With the Board President, prepare the monthly Board of Directors meeting agenda; attend all Board of Directors meetings and functions; work with Board of Directors and committees to implement plans and decisions.
Fiscal Management Develop annual budget and work closely with staff to ensure a financially sound operation.
Authorize bill payment and ensure preparation of fiscal reports as required.
Maintain familiarity with La Crosse Promise fiscal position and keep the Board Treasurer and Board of Directors informed.
Assess the financial feasibility of current programs and services and new initiatives being considered by La Crosse Promise based on changing community needs and priorities.
Human Resources Maintain personnel records.
Develop and maintain familiarity with human resources requirements and update policies and procedures as needed.
Ensure that staff have the resources, training, and support needed to do their job.
Ensure that staff appraisals are completed and documented annually.
With the Governance Committee, review and update the Employee Handbook annually.
Review, prepare, administer, and update any other needed policies and procedures.
Prepare, review, and revise staff job descriptions and salary range as necessary, with the Executive Committee.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
